Ayoola Abiodun Adeyinka

I, Ayoola Abiodun Adeyinka, a M. AgSE student with the Matric number (PG15/0239) 2015/2016 session (Livestock Science and Sustainable Environment) at the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

I attended Methodist Primary school, Badagry, Lagos for my primary education and Badagry Grammar School for my secondary education in 2000. Thereafter, I proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun state for my Tertiary education where I obtained B.Agric in Animal Science with a second class upper division in 2009. My academic interest revolves round monogastric production, health, and nutrition and this brought about my final year dissertation “The Effect of Treated Water on Broiler Performance”. In 2010, I became member of Nigeria Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) as Graduate Animal Scientist.

I subsequently served my nation in Ogun state and I was posted to Matkis Farms and Agro service Limited, a Poultry farm and I was retained therein for my continuous service after my service year in 2011. I spent three years in Matkis farms and Agro service Limited in various units including chicks brooding and rearing, production and feeds mill unit. However being an ambitious person with the aim of attaining professionalism in my field and related work, I moved from Matkis farms and Agro service Limited to Trans African Farms and Foods Limited (TAFFL). Under Trans African farms and Foods Limited, I was opportuned to serve in various units including commercial birds unit, broiler and layer breeder unit and feeds mill unit.

Furthermore, knowing fully well that ambition goes together with hard-work, and commitment, I was promoted as a manager in Trans African Farms and Foods Limited. In the same Organization, I was also enjoined to train young workers on the rudiment of a successful management of poultry before I left the Organization for my master programme in January, 2016.

Despite my knowledge of the rudiment of poultry farming, my quest and thirst for more knowledge, professionalism and expertise has resulted into my engagement in the specialize Master Programme (M.AgSE) under the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), FUNAAB. With this, I have been able to expand my knowledge theoretically and practically in my field, having been trained by competent professors and lecturers who have worked tirelessly to expose us to the modern information and techniques in the Agricultural science.

I have enjoyed several opportunities through CEADESE programme which include exposure to several workshops, trainings, internship and research support. Moreover through this programme, I also won a scholarship from Novus International as Novus Graduate Scholar in 2017 which gave me an opportunity to be trained internationally (South Africa, USA) and also attended Poultry Science Association Annual meeting in Orlando Florida, USA in 2017. This opportunity also brought about my research topic “Response of broiler chickens to supplemental chelated Copper, zinc and manganese or their corresponding inorganic sources”.
