On 2nd of August, 2017, a group of Laboratory Technologists and Scientists gathered at International Scholar Centre, FUNAAB for an extremely informative one day workshop titled “A New Trend in Laboratory Safety and Human Health”. The training workshop was organized by CEADESE as part of its mandate in furthering research development and capacity building, with Dr. O.O. Olujimi (Safeguard officer CEADESE) as facilitator, Mr. Yemi Gbadegesin (Director General, Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technology, Ibadan) as Guest Speaker.
The safeguard training workshop was attended by laboratory professionals: supervisors, principal investigators and executives with primary responsibility of maintaining laboratories under their supervision as safe, healthy places to work and ensuring that applicable health, safety and environmental regulations are followed. Participants were further informed, instructed and trained on novel technological development such as how to choose and use Personal Protective Equipment or PPE in different situations in making our laboratories safer.
Also the workshop was chaired by Acting Vice Chancellor FUNAAB, who was represented by the Centre Director, Prof, Okanlawon. M. Onagbesan, others in attendance include, Mr. A. O. Ojo Director, DITTECS, FUNAAB and other senior personnel of the university.
