… Commends Sustainability Efforts of the Centre
As part of the activities of the Association of African Universities (AAU), to oversee and coordinate all the Africa Centres of Excellence all over Africa, the Secretary General of the Association and the Fifth Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Olusola Oyewole on July 25, 2023, paid a Courtesy Visit to the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), to have a first-hand information on how FUNAAB has been able to sustain the Centre years after the expiration of the World Bank funds.
He, therefore, commended the University for sustaining the Africa Centre of Excellence initiative judging from the visible progress on ground.
While taking the AAU Secretary General on a guided familiarisation tour of facilities at the Centre, the Director, CEADESE, Professor Olukayode Akinyemi stated that the University made judicious use of the World Bank funds, adding that the Central Laboratory situated in the Centre was equipped with state-of-the-art equipment needed for research.
Professor Akinyemi further stated that through the Centre, the University has attracted foreign students from Togo, Liberia, Benin, and the Gambia, noting that many of them are back in their countries as executives and policy makers.
Besides, he informed the Secretary General that the Centre has secured international accreditation for all its 12 programmes, based on European Higher Education standards.
Earlier, the AAU Secretary General had paid a Courtesy Call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, where the Vice-Chancellor presented a detailed sustainability document and a progress report about CEADESE to the Secretary General.
